Fic, Young Avengers, "Downtime"

Title: Downtime
Word Count: 242
Rating: G
Challenge: #143 on my prompt table - "Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious." - Brendan Gill.
Characters/Pairing: Kate, Eli, Tommy
Warnings: un-betaed
Summary: Tommy's up to his usual tricks, but Eli reaps the benefits for once.

"Tommy! When I get my hands on you, you'll wish you'd never been reincarnated!"

The sight of Kate dripping wet, with her blouse clinging enticingly to her curves and her expression promising death (thankfully someone else's) dried Eli's mouth. He knew he should be outraged on her behalf at this newest practical joke by their resident speedster - but when the results were this? Well, Eli was only human, and straight, and sixteen. It was enough to make him point in the opposite direction of where the other boy had run, just this once.

Once Kate had left Tommy strolled back into the room with a mile-wide smirk on his face. "Oh, don't look at me like that. If the sight of a wet Kate Bishop didn't get the stick out of your ass then I'm out of ideas."

Eli choked on what he'd been about to say. "Don't pretend you did any of that for me! Can't you ever be serious? Do you even realize she could have you up on sexual harassment charges?"

Tommy looked worried for half a second, then his face morphed back to his habitual smirk. "Nah, she wouldn't do that."

"You're right, she wouldn't; Kate's more of a hands on kind of girl."

Eli figured a cold dose of reality should slow the other boy down - for a few minutes anyway. It had nothing to do with the poleaxed look on his face.

Well, almost nothing.
